Not
much to say really: this version of the Allegro was produced in Italy
under licence - and lasted eighteen months. The Italians allegedly
begged British Leyland not to build the car anymore, such was its lack
of appeal.
One thought
occurs, though: Why not "Allegro" in Italy? The answer probably lies in
the fact that in Italian, while the word allegro can mean cheerful or
bright as in music, it can also mean merry or drunk...




Not even the Italians were spared the indignity of
the legendary Quartic steering wheel.
